CZ DUTY 4.0 C
Specs at a glance
About this product
One box with the frame, both rails, the jig, drill bits and end mill is how kits ship from this store. The CZ DUTY 4.0 is the other kind of one box: the pistol is finished when CZ closes the lid. It is a striker-fired 9x19mm with the serial number on an internal chassis, which makes the fiberglass-reinforced polymer grip frame modular. Expect a 4-inch non-threaded barrel, fixed sights and a slide ready for a direct-mounted red dot.
Choose the C compact for 15+1 rounds (17+1 with the extended base plate), 770 g and 135 mm in height, or the F full-size for 17+1 (19+1 extended), 780 g and 143 mm. Either way the pistol is 188 mm long and 33 mm wide. The refined SFDA trigger pulls about 5.6 lbs with a 4 mm reset. On MS models a manual thumb safety backs up the firing pin block, trigger safety and trigger bar safety. CZ's MSRP is $729 and the line is a new release.
Compact means 15+1 rounds in a frame 5.3 in (135 mm) high. Fit the longer base plate and it holds 17+1. At 27.2 oz (770 g) unloaded it sits between a pocket pistol and a full-size gun, which is exactly where a carry-and-bedside 9mm belongs.
The standard model skips the manual safety and keeps the three passive ones: firing pin block, trigger safety and drawbar safety. Same chassis, same trigger and slide as the MS; only the lever is missing.
What is new under the slide is the serial-numbered modular chassis. The serial number lives on the internal chassis, not on the polymer grip, so the grip frame is a part you can change while the gun stays the same gun. Around it CZ put a reworked SFDA striker trigger, rated at 25 ± 4 N (5.6 ± 0.9 lbs) with a 0.16 in (4 mm) reset and 9 ± 1 mm (0.4 ± 0.04 in) of travel, and a slide cut for direct-mount optics. CZ's own photos show it wearing Holosun, Aimpoint and Shield dot sights.
Who is it for: daily carry, a bedside gun that also rides along, and new owners who want one pistol for everything. If you already shoot a P-10, the DUTY is the next step in the same family, with a new chassis and the optics done right.
Kits ship to your door, but the DUTY 4.0 cannot, since it is a serialized complete pistol. Name the FFL dealer who should receive it when you check out, and the dealer takes care of the transfer paperwork and applies your state's rules at pickup. Check with the dealer before ordering so the package is expected.

Frequently asked questions
- Do I need any tools for the DUTY 4.0?
- No. It arrives assembled from CZ. The only step is the transfer at your FFL dealer.
- Which safeties does the standard model have?
- A firing pin block, a trigger safety and a trigger bar safety. MS models add a manual thumb safety on top of those.
- Does the CZ DUTY 4.0 C take CZ P-10 magazines?
- CZ lists the DUTY with its own 15-round magazine and an extended base plate for 17+1. P-10 magazine fit is not confirmed, so plan on DUTY magazines.
- Is the compact easy to shoot?
- It shares the 4-inch barrel and slide with the full-size gun, so the sight radius is the same. Only the grip is shorter.
