Our Founder: Tyler Banks
The company is built on the hands-on expertise of founder Tyler Banks. A certified gunsmith with over 15 years of professional experience, Tyler has personally completed and tested more than 500 custom builds, ranging from everyday carry pieces to specialized competition firearms. Before founding Polymer80 Kits, he managed the gunsmithing department for a major Middle Tennessee retailer, where he saw firsthand the growing demand for a dedicated, knowledgeable resource for the 80% builder community. Frustrated by the lack of specialized support and inconsistent part quality available, he established Polymer80 Kits to fill that gap. Tyler’s philosophy is simple: if you’re going to build it, build it right.
Our Story & Mission
Polymer80 Kits began in 2018, operating out of a small workshop in East Nashville. What started as a side project fueled by Tyler’s passion quickly grew through word-of-mouth from local builders who appreciated the curated selection of parts and, more importantly, the accessible technical advice. As demand grew, we formalized the business, moving to a larger facility to house our inventory and a dedicated customer support area. We’ve remained intentionally focused, refusing to dilute our expertise by becoming a generic “everything firearms” store.
